2021 Toyota Avalon: Engines and Performance

The Avalon offers three engines to choose from, two gas engines and one hybrid option. Each of these will give you plenty of power to get you where you need to go. With these engines, you’ll also get the option of standard Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) or available All-Wheel Drive (AWD).

• 2.5L 4-cylinder hybrid engine with 176 horsepower and 163 lb-ft of torque.
• 3.5L V6 engine with 301 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque.
• 2.5L 4-cylinder engine with 205 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque.

The gas engines work with an 8-speed Electronically Controlled automatic Transmission with intelligence (ECT-i) while the hybrid engine is paired with an Electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (ECVT). Both of these transmissions offer smooth transitions through gears and considerable fuel economy.

All three engines focus on delivering fuel efficiency. The hybrid engine offers an EPA-estimated 43 city/ 44 highway MPG.* The 2.5L engine offers an EPA-estimated 25 city/34 highway MPG.* The most potent 3.5L engine does not fall far behind in fuel economy with an EPA-estimated 22 city/32 highway MPG.*

The interior of the Avalon is built for comfort and convenience. No one will have to compromise on cabin temperature since the Avalon comes standard with dual-zone automatic climate control. This allows each front passenger to pick their preferred temperature, which the sedan maintains.

The Avalon also offers comfortable seating with SofTex®-trimmed material, which gives you the look of leather. You can also upgrade to premium leather-trimmed seats with heating and ventilation for the front row on higher trim levels.

In terms of technology, the Avalon is well-stocked. This sedan includes a standard infotainment system with a 9-inch screen as well as the following features:

On higher trim levels, the infotainment system has available Dynamic Navigation, a premium audio system with 14 speakers, and even a Wi-Fi Connect feature to keep everyone connected.

2021 Toyota Avalon: Safety Features

Like most vehicles on the market today, the 2021 Avalon offers plenty of safety and driver-assist technologies. However, many of these features come standard in the Avalon with Toyota Safety Sense™ P, like:

• Automatic High Beams—To help you see at night, this feature monitors light levels and turns on the high beams when you need them. If there is oncoming traffic, it will switch off the high beams and turn them back on when you need them.
• Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control—This system allows you to set a speed and distance interval from the vehicle ahead of you. Then, your Avalon will follow those speeds like normal cruise control while you’re on the highway.
• Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist—This feature monitors your position in your lane and warns you if you drift out of your lane unintentionally. If you don’t correct your drift, the Avalon will subtly correct your steering.
